As part of our London topic, we had a workshop yesterday to enjoy interactive learning activities about the Great Fire of London. The children did freeze frames, bucket relays and re-enacted various parts of the historical events. It was a fabulous opportunity to apply and embed the learning we have done in class. […]
The children had to think of ideas for our class Census. We had lots of great ideas, but then removed the ones that would not give us useful data. The children took a vote to choose what we would count and we went with the popular choice, games. We used a tally chart […]
In our music lesson today, we continued to practice moving to the beat of the music. Children are now reading a range of notes. We can also play our own musical (and improvised) instruments along to a piece of music.
We started with a warm up – listening to the different notes to make our movements with. We then used a rest with the notes we already know to add a challenge to our practice.
In our DT lesson today, we thought about food that is healthy, like fruit and vegetables. We agreed some food could be healthy, but unhealthy when you eat too much of it (bread and cheese). Some healthy foods are mixed with unhealthy foods, like fish and chips, or burgers with salad. It was certainly food […]
We did a warm up using marching, punching and shoulder rolls. After warming up successfully, we practiced our ball control skills at home. Some excellent skills demonstrated – well done!
We were lucky to be able to keep our music lessons while home learning. We started with repeating chants, using different voices. Can you tell which is the sad chant and which is excited? We began to learn a new song with actions We finished with some rhythm work We just had time to share […]
Today we looked at items of equipment for an experiment. We put them in a list. We made a prediction about using the equipment. Next, we watched or participated in 3 different experiments: Fizzing Potions Milk Swirls Rainbow Skittles We even made our own videos… Finally, we drew and wrote about our observations… We really […]
We had our class visit on Wednesday, exploring a local interest site and investigating the local physical and man-made features in the land. Adults wore masks and we took our sanitisers along (in our coat pockets). We avoided touching any gates, etc. unnecessarily, to keep ourselves safe. We were lucky with the weather and had […]
In 1/2P, we are learning about Amelia Earhart. We are currently writing a recount on her disappearance, and we have just completed portraits of her to go up on display.
We have been drawing animal prints and silhouettes in 2WB. We had to look really carefully at the use of shape to draw a selection of animal outlines. Using bright watercolours and monotone, we presented animals in our sketch books.
We have been exploring examples of Asian poetry in 2WB. Poetry has included storytelling, shape poems, Haiku, rhymes and even nonsense. We have been thinking about what we like and using our oracy skills to justify our opinions. Here are some examples: Alexie Oracy Amelia Oracy Darcie Oracy Eliza Oracy Khalifa Oracy Kieran Oracy a […]
Today we continued to practice our emailing skills. We safely replied to messages from a new friend called Twanda, who asked us about our celebrations. We can now reply with emojis and symbols, attached pictures and our own drawings. We messaged Twanda about birthday parties, eating pizza with our families and decorating with balloons. What […]
