Positive playground time for Y1/2B 🌈❤️
Class 1/2B defend Bolsover Castle for the day, exploring the beautiful rooms in the castle and enjoying the spectacular views. We love hands on learning! 🏰🏹
Children in 1/2B added texture to their clay tiles pattern, with a careful choice of colour and detail 🖌🎨
KS1 enjoyed lots of lovely stories and illustrating tips from the lady author herself. We will be able to have a try at drawing lions and giraffes with our new skills…📚📖
Today, 1/2B reflected on our sketchbook pattern designs to make a clay tile. We used precision clay tools to carefully recreate our design 🎨🧑🏻🎨
1/2B found out why some people wear purple poppies for remembrance and made our own interpretation using sketching skills 🎨
1/2B used a layering technique and images of famous musicians to create some fantastic outcomes for Black history Month 🎨
This week, we started on story boards for our own cart👀n ideas. The children were really creative and enjoyed drawing out their cartoons ✍️
In F1, we have been looking at the works of artist Charles Gaines. We have loved looking at his artwork and discussing the colours he uses to make them bright and beautiful. We even noticed that Charles uses numbers in his art! We have put our own spin on his artwork by creating a tree […]
In cart👀n club, We had lots of fun learning about the early Disney cartoon ‘Steamboat Willie’ and how it was made.
In Y1/2B, we have been practising some of our sketching skills to reveal our Olympic sporting theme. Can you guess from our work? 🔍
As part of our DT project, we designed, made and evaluated our own Olympic medals in Y1/2B. We decided our medals must have the Olympic rings and the goddess of victory, Nike. They should be shiny and durable. They could have a ribbon attached, to wear around the neck. 🏅
We designed and created a printing block today that allowed us to practise some relief printing in Y2 👍🏻😀
We are really looking forward to continuing our art projects next week!
Today we continued our silhouette art work with Mrs Robbins. We have been adding patterns and geometric shapes to our silhouettes, I wonder what we will add next…
We got involved in a whole-school project and made some 3D hand shapes today, using our clay modelling skills. We had to think about the thickness of our clay, keeping it flat and even. We worked with a partner to carefully draw around our hands. We used precision tools to cut around the shape we […]
We have been drawing animal prints and silhouettes in 2WB. We had to look really carefully at the use of shape to draw a selection of animal outlines. Using bright watercolours and monotone, we presented animals in our sketch books.
We paid tribute to black art history by researching an influential artist. Lois Mailou Jones was greatly influenced by African masks and the use of bold colours and patterns. In the style of our artist, we started with our mask outlines before using pastels to add bold and bright colours. Which colours did you like best?
Today in art we had a go at sketching and copying tone. We had a variety of animals and styles to choose from and used these to practice our pencil control. Which animal would you have chosen?
Today we practiced our shading skills, with a focus on tone. We enjoyed making different tones, without pressing on the page with our pencil. Instead, we learned how to hold our pencils properly as artists to get the desired effect on our page. We learned to use a new word – ask us what […]
Today we created our bird designs for an upcoming local display. The children thought carefully about their use of colour and showed some excellent colouring skills!
