These week we have been celebrating all things that make us unique and special. Here are our personal and in school achievements.
Art Club with Miss Stubbs

Here is this week’s Newsletter with all the fabulous events that have happened over the last two weeks.
Textiles 🌊
In art this term we are looking at textiles. Today we used our sketchbook to recreate some repeating patterns and we looked at the work of some craft makers.
Special Mentions Assembly
Our first special mentions of our he Summer Term, celebrating our successes and achievements. We are so proud of our Rockingham children and staff you are all incredible.
Special Mentions
We held our final special mentions assembly of the term and again had some outstanding learning and awards to share. All of our children have shown maximum effort this term and have such a wonderful desire and passion for learning. Well done to all our winners this week.
F1 Modelling their Easter Bonnets
How wonderful are our Foundation 1 creations, the detail, creativity and ideas that have gone into their hats this year is incredible. Well done all I know it was very difficult to choose a winner as they are all so amazing.
Congratulations Hunter
Hunter has been working extremley hard and showing resilience towards his Art learning this term. He has used a range of skills within his sketch book to create this beautiful masterpiece using pastel. We are proud of you Hunter.
Bugs in F2 – Using Natural Materials
From their visit to the butterfly house the children have been using natural materials in the continuous provision to make their own minibeasts. Ove the week the children have really engaged in this activity and have created some amazing bugs!
Easter Service Ready
Our children have been rehearsing over the last few weeks in preperation for our Easter Service tomorrow. The children have produced some beautiful art work, poems, prayers and stories based on the true meaning of Easter. We can’t wait to share this with you tomorrow.
Art in 3WB – from sketchbook to final piece!
Our Art learning journey has enabled us to apply our charcoal and pastel skills into a final piece inspired by the cave paintings we have been learning about in our History lessons.
Art 4D Exploring Charcoal Patterns
The children showed lots of resilience when using charcoal today. They were very creative with their patterns. This learning followed on from our cave painting study and looking at the materials they used during the Stone Age.

Special Mentions Assembly
Today we celebrated some outstanding learning this week and our winners were thrilled. We are so proud of our children who are completing roles and responsibilities in school. They really do lead the way and celebrate everyone’s behaviour and attitudes to learning.
Y2S Powder paint skills session.
Miss Stubbs used her skills today to teach Art through the medium of powder paint. The children really enjoyed understanding the primary colours and how to create new colours. I can’t wait to see the final outcomes.
The Shelter Drawings: Henry Moore as a War Artist
Our Year 5/6 children have loved their artist study of Henry Moore, looking carefully at his war paintings. Henry Moore was a famous sculptor and his works can be found at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Life Cycle and Art
The children in F1 have explored colour mixing through painting a frog. They mixed different shades of green and used smaller brushes to paint different sized shapes and add fine detail.
Special Mentions – Celebrations all around.
Today we were blown away by the learning of all Children, their behaviour, attitude and learning is fantastic . The way they applaud each other and celebrate their success is lovely to see. Our school really is the best in the world.
3/4P illustrating their writing.
Mr Parkin’s class have done an exceptional job of illustrating their writing using pastel. The detail and precision that has gone into this is exceptional. Well done girls.
Our Artist Study 🧑🎨
We are learning all about Paul Klee in art this term. We have tried hard to create an artist study which includes our own artistic flare. They have turned out amazing!
Art at Rockingham
We love Art at Rockingham and our children do too, building up their skills is so important and our Children have been trying out a range of techniques within their sketch books.

A huge thank you to Debbie for our amazing art professional development day. Our staff loved the CPD for the Arts. We really developed our knowledge of powder paint and our skills progression. We can’t wait to get started next week.
