What a fantastic sporting event we have had. Our Willow Tree Olympics was underway and all children were actively involved in all events. After resilience, determination and team work our Rockingham A Team came in first place successfully achieving 246 points collectively. Congratulations to al children across Willow Tree for giving it your all.
Today we have launched new games on the playground to bring some team work, positivity and excitement to our children’s lunchtimes. We have loved every second and can’t wait to the same again tomorrow.

Today we celebrated our Year 6s by sharing our Y6 leavers video. The children have created something extra special to share with their family and friends and we hope you enjoy watching their celebration. We are proud of each and everyone of you and can’t wait for further celebrations this week.
During Art, using skills of water colour, we have developed some lovely images of monkeys and chimpanzees. The ideas came from us learning about evolution and Charles Darwin. The results were superb!
Today as part of Design Technology and Maths, 6H designed and created pulleys which acted as flagpoles to raise flags. We discussed how a flagpole is used at the Olympics which we are participating in this week. Everyone worked well together to complete the problem solving challenges.
Today was an emotional day, Maisie, Jaye and Hannah’s last environment club. We hope the girls come back to support us. We are going to miss them so much.
Tonight our environment club went hunting for litter, they have done an incredible job of making our school look amazing.
We are so proud of our Golden shield winners and showcasing some fantastic learning outcomes. We are so proud of you all. A huge well done to Charlie receiving the Head Teachers award for his positive attitude, resilience and how he has grown in confidence.
This week the children have used the orienteering course to locate a range of birds they may find in Britain. The children had a fantastic time outdoors you can see from their smiles.
6H have been looking at developing their close sketching techniques. They have looked at different patterns and pencil movements which can create different effects.
During PE, 6H looked at the technique and movement needed to throw a discus. We looked at body movements and linked to History of the ancient Olympic Games. We realised it is not easy to throw with this action!
As part of our learning about healthy bodies and design technology, we created our smoothies which we designed. We then evaluated the taste to see which were good products. IMG_7817
Our Year 6 children were the first to go and Visit the LEAF Centre this week and look at the progress on their design. Mr Hanson and the children couldn’t believe the size, scale and views from the upper floor.
Today our Year 6s are off on their first adventure to Wingfield. We had mixed emotions from both children and staff and can’t wait to find out what they have been up to. We miss you already, good luck and be the amazing Rockingam learner we know you are.

We celebrated all our achievements this week in Special Mentions, our Year 1 children are really development their computing skills. We have shown some fabulous design and technology skills within History. In Literacy the children have produced some high quality examples of learning. Well done everyone.
Our children have created a wonderful video to share with our friends at Abbey School, it has been so lovely to make connections and complete a NEMESIS project together. The children in both schools have made new friendships, learnt new skills and grown in confidence.

Using the journey of bloody around the heart, 6H completed some short stop motion animations of the journey. The clips will be used to make videos of how blood travels around the heart by adding voiceovers.
Today as part of mental health awareness week, 6H discussed mindfulness and carried out some mindful colouring exercises. We also listened to calming music to start off our day.
Y4/5D and Y6H Are enjoying exploring the LEAF Centre and seeing the progress of the building work, they had a wonderful discussion regarding the changes.
