This week, 5/6H and 6B have continued their learning based on Real Love Rocks. We have discussed issues such as grooming and how to identify and report this. We want the children to be aware and be able act in any scenario.

Chloe has expressed an interest in supporting the Rockingham Early Years children during playtime, she has helped put their coats and gloves on and encouraged them to learn in the mud kitchen. Mrs Sweeney has commented on how helpful and resilient you have been showing kindness and friendship.
Our Year children are in preparation for their residential to Stratford this term. They are currently learning all about William Shakespeare. They have found out a lot of information about him as a boy and his birthplace.
Today we celebrated our children’s learning and wished them all a happy new year. We are so proud of how they have settled and used their resilience and determination to be successful learners.

This Year the children have been involved in Strictly come dancing which has been phenomenal. Each class has worked together as a team to learn a class dance choosing a particular style of Dance. All our children looked incredible on Christmas Dinner day, so much effort had gone into their outfits including the staff. We really enjoyed our lunch. Thank you Mrs Parry and the team for our Dinner this year.

Y5P have had a tremendous day at the National Space Centre in Leicester today. We explored all the galleries, learnt about being an astronaut in space and watched a show in the planetarium.
Recycling old pumpkins into bird feeders in Environment Club the children had a wonderful evening working as a team to hang pumpkins in our outdoor environment.

In Guided Reading, Y5 have focused on Black History Month and have learned about some of the most important black figures in our history. This week, we have read about Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.

On Tuesday our Year 5/6 children took part in a tournament at New York Stadium during the Rotherham United home match. The children played during half time and played exceptionally well.
