Today we celebrated our children’s successes during special mentions. A wonderful assembly. We are so proud of you all.
Today, 5P made the short trip to our Leaf Centre. We discussed the building, its purpose when built, and how it is going to support lots of young children for many years to come.
We combined our geography, computing and oracy skills this afternoon to compare the locations the vikings came from to the UK. Children were involved in the project of creating a weather report using the green screen and I movie to show their final outcomes.
In literacy today we worked on our oracy skills as we interviewed different people from the Lindisfarne attack by the Vikings. Children worked well in groups to develop questions and answers. A few brave children then stepped up to answer the groups questions. A great lesson. Well done Mr Parkin

Our children have loved coming back after Easter to their new Reading Environments. It’s been wonderful seeing the children fully immersed in the class texts. I can’t wait to hear all about your reading.
Our children in KS2 have enjoyed a series of environmental challenges and a carrousel of activities in developing the grounds. We can’t wait to follow their journey throughout the term.
Around school we have our RP Reps up and proud. They have done a wonderful job completing their qualification and learnt so much about the importance of their role. We can’t wait to see them out on the playground after Easter.

The children in Y5P are developing their computing skills in the Internet cafe area this morning. Chrome Books, IMacs and PCs there is nothing 5P can’t use to develop their computing skills.
Our children beautifully told the story of Easter through the arts, drama and literacy. The children worked collaboratively together to celebrate Easter. Y5P have had a wonderful morning identifying traffic on our roads. They have explored their local area identified different vehicles on the road. They calculated the number of vehicles and identified the colour. We had a great time today in the sunshine.
Year 3, 4 and 5 had a great time this morning carrying out experiments with Sheffield Hallam during our Super Scientist workshop. Here are some pictures of the children carrying out their investigations.
This week has been tree planting week at Rockingham, all the children have been out planting trees near our pond area. The children have learnt so much from Mrs Tunks this week. Thank you for helping our children grow.

The children have had a great day making reading dens at home and school and sharing their favourite books.
Y5P have been building dens and enjoying reading as part of World Book Week. There are some incredible outcomes and wonderful reading. I am looking forward to hearing the children read and see their developments next week. Mr Parkin
Y5P are having a great week with their World Book Week Learning. They have created t-shirts, developed fruit characters, and spent today developing scavenger stories. We have two days left of the creative week and I am sure our fantastic outcomes will continue.
