In Guided Reading, Y5 have focused on Black History Month and have learned about some of the most important black figures in our history. This week, we have read about Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.
This week the children enjoyed making fajitas in Cooking Club. Lots of new skills this week. They looked and smelt delicious, I hope you can now all recreate these at home.

Y5P practiced their defending skills today in football. We looked at the jockeying position and to apply pressure to the opposition.
On Tuesday our Year 5/6 children took part in a tournament at New York Stadium during the Rotherham United home match. The children played during half time and played exceptionally well. KS2 Art club with Mrs Buttree We have had a fantastic first art club today. Children have been looking at pattern and line work in Zentangles. Children from Y3-6 practiced their own designs first and then started a larger piece that will be finished in next weeks session.

Y5P have enjoyed their Place Value block during numeracy and produced some lovely discussions over comparing and ordering numbers up to 1 million.
Y5P enjoyed researching about the planets in our solar system. We searched for specific facts such as: distance from the sun, average temperature, diameter and distance from Earth. Next week, we will look to publish our research.
Y5P looking at dribbling yesterday in their PE lesson. Our objective was to keep our heads up, find the space and use the inside of our foot to dribble with the ball.
We loved our first assembly back sharing all the wonderful things that had happened that week. Our children have come back settled and love learning. It was really lovely to see our KS1 children back in the hall. Well done to all our winners and to Scholes who have taken the house challenge lead.
This week we have come together within assembly to explore the British Values and continue our collective worship. It is lovely having some of our children back together again. Thank you Mr Parkin for a great assembly.
Mrs Tunks always loves taking us on adventures. We explored the pond and saw lots of frogs and tadpoles. I hope we didn’t scare them off.

Today we celebrated the children’s achievements in their new class. It appears everyone has had a fantastic first week and really enjoying finding new friendships, getting to know their Teacher and learning new things. Well done to all our winners and we really enjoyed our Olympics theme.

Today we took a Year 6 and Year 5 team to compete against Greasbrough Primary school to open the Multi Sports Centre. The children were really lucky to have the Mayor of Rotherham who presented the children with medals. Congratulations everyone a wonderful afternoon had by all.
Today we held our first ever Willow Vision, competing against our four schools in a competition. All the children sang beautifully in French. Congratulations Roughwood, what a performance. We already have ideas buzzing for next year.

Today we have launched new games on the playground to bring some team work, positivity and excitement to our children’s lunchtimes. We have loved every second and can’t wait to the same again tomorrow.
