Today we have made a start planting our class sunflowers 🌻. We will water them daily until they are big enough to plant outside and then hopefully win the wholeschool growing competition 😀.

Today we had the privilege of working with freestyle footballer Jamie Knight , who showed us lots of skills and helped us to practice our own. All the children absolutely loved the session.
Mrs McDermott wanted to showcase her children’s learning for parents this week. Again another opportunity to welcome our parents back into school. It has been an incredible term and one we will always remember.

Today we visited Bolsover Castle and we loved exploring up close. We looked around the Castle to see what the rooms would have been like , explored the gardens , looked around the ruins and took a walk around the battlements.
Today we celebrated some outstanding learning this week and our winners were thrilled. We are so proud of our children who are completing roles and responsibilities in school. They really do lead the way and celebrate everyone’s behaviour and attitudes to learning.

In our history lesson today we looked at the different job roles within a castle compared to the job roles people do today. We spoke lots about how the jobs are different and discussed what it might have been like to work in a castle .

Fantastic art and design opportunities ranging from wax resist, charcoal, sewing and artist studies in school on our learning walk yesterday. We saw incredible teacher modelling and high quality skill development. When asked a child said “Art makes me feel joyful”. How amazing is that?
This week we have been following a set of instructions using time connectives, imperative verbs and adverbs. The children have followed very clear instructions including all the above and created their very own goblets ready for a feast linked to our castle topic.
Here we are, finally back together at last. I think all the staff and children felt quite emotional. We have certainly missed being together, celebrating the children’s achievements. Today we followed instructions on how to make pancakes and had a go at making our own. We then tried them and had a go at writing the step step instructions using time connectives.
Today for our Book to bake. We shared the book Kitchen disco 😀. We really enjoyed the book and then made our very own banana loaf. Tomorrow’s job is to try our bake 🍌 🍞.
