Mrs Oram is supporting positive play in KS1 and created some fabulous scavenger hunts on our playground. The children have loved them and can’t wait to start making their own.

We loved our visit to see the goats! One of the goats even tried to eat Miss Stubbs’ hair!
Today we used the atlas’ to develop our map skills. We searched for the UK and then Peru. We then looked at the physical features of Peru and sorted between physical and human geography.
This week in art we have been exploring printing. We made our own designs using foam and then printed into our sketch books. Next we will use the skills we have learnt to make a house print for a Great Fire of London scene.
Well done 1S for being active for our Big Pedal competition.
Today we explored capacity and volume in Maths. We used different containers to see how much water they held. We learnt lots of new vocabulary including full, half full and empty.
Today in PE we learnt all about defending. We built up our skills through the lesson by defending a target then adding in a bean bag and finally throwing a bean bag to score a goal and defend the net.
Next week we have our activities to support Beat the Street. Get involved and join in the fun.

Our KS1 children wanted to show their amazing Science learning, we are so proud of their messy mixtures learning. Excellent process and progression of skills.
Our children have loved coming back after Easter to their new Reading Environments. It’s been wonderful seeing the children fully immersed in the class texts. I can’t wait to hear all about your reading.

Our children really enjoyed coming to school dressed as an emotion which was represented by a colour. It was lovely to see a rainbow of colour on our school playground. Thank you to all of our families who got involved.
In 1S and 1/2P we decided for census day we would count the vehicles and people that pass school. We counted 25 cars and 12 people. We saw lorries, vans a bus and even 2 dogs! we will use the data that we collected to create graphs and charts.
For our innovation project for Science week we made RoboBugs. We had to think carefully about the characteristics that our bugs would have. We came up with some amazing creations.
This week has been tree planting week at Rockingham, all the children have been out planting trees near our pond area. The children have learnt so much from Mrs Tunks this week. Thank you for helping our children grow.
