6B Art – Sailing Boats

Today, we used our pencil sketching skills to create line drawings of sailing boats, linked to our class text Kensuke’s Kingdom. Children then quickly transferred these pencil skills into pen drawings becoming braver with their line experimentation as the afternoon went on.  

Y5/6H P4C What makes a winner?

5/6H looked at some famous moments from the Olympics including Usain Bolt winning the 100m, Super Saturday from 2012, Derrick Redmond in Barcelona and Eric the Eel. We then discussed what makes a winner. There were some very well thought out responses. We decided that winning gold didn’t just mean you were a winner!  

5/6H Olympic Art and DT

The last couple of weeks, 5/6H have been producing some different pieces of artwork and design technology learning. They have focused on Olympic posters for painting and Olympic kits to design. The children tried really hard with the learning they produced.

As part of our DT project, we designed, made and evaluated our own Olympic medals in Y1/2B. We decided our medals must have the Olympic rings and the goddess of victory, Nike. They should be shiny and durable. They could have a ribbon attached, to wear around the neck. 🏅

Special Mentions Assembly

Today we celebrated the children’s achievements in their new class. It appears everyone has had a fantastic first week and really enjoying finding new friendships, getting to know their Teacher and learning new things. Well done to all our winners and we really enjoyed our Olympics theme.

Awards 2021

Today we celebrated our successes across all classes in school. It was lovely to see the smiles on so many faces.
