As part of our DT project, we designed, made and evaluated our own Olympic medals in Y1/2B. We decided our medals must have the Olympic rings and the goddess of victory, Nike. They should be shiny and durable. They could have a ribbon attached, to wear around the neck. 🏅

Today we celebrated the children’s achievements in their new class. It appears everyone has had a fantastic first week and really enjoying finding new friendships, getting to know their Teacher and learning new things. Well done to all our winners and we really enjoyed our Olympics theme.
Today we celebrated our successes across all classes in school. It was lovely to see the smiles on so many faces. Today we had our music session with the Rotherham music service and really enjoyed our session.
In Y1today, children moved along to a familiar song and tapped back a set of beats, using a musical instrument 🎶
In y2 this week we have been learning all about place value. We have been discussing the value of tens and ones.
Today our Y1 numeracy learning was about sorting objects and preparing to count. Objects can be sorted by their shape, colour and size. We also realised that objects can be sorted by their type. We discovered that when we line our objects up, it makes counting easier.
In KS1, we enjoyed matching 🇫🇷 vocabulary to the correct sporting activity. It was surprising to see some of the words were very similar to our English words for sports!
Our new Y1 children enjoyed collecting scores in our Olympic themed activities yesterday.

Today the children looked at different Olympic events in French and matched the pictures to the words.
In 1M we have enjoyed learning about and the recreating some Olympic Games . The children had their own score cards to record all their times and outcomes. They really enjoyed being active and taking part.
Today we held our first ever Willow Vision, competing against our four schools in a competition. All the children sang beautifully in French. Congratulations Roughwood, what a performance. We already have ideas buzzing for next year.

Our art leader Miss Stubbs has been blown away this week. She was thrilled with the amount of concentration and resilience the children are putting into sketching and using our new techniques to make our sketches more detailed. Here are the artists of 3/4P with their amazing art learning!
This week we finished our DT project by making a moving London bus. We did an amazing job! We even used equipment to cut the dowel for our own axels.
This week the children have spent time publishing their non chronological reports about ‘London Landmarks’. This piece of learning has taken quite a few weeks to write, edit and improve and the children have taken such pride in the presentation of their final published piece of the school year!
2WB have been working hard to improve their skills in PE. We have been practising our over and underarm throws, catching and fielding skills.
This half term the children have worked incredibly hard to research, plan, design, make and evaluate their own London Bus with moving wheels. The resilience, problem solving and teamwork these children have shown has been amazing and is reflected in the excellent outcomes they produced.
What a fabulous celebration this week, discussing all the wonderful achievements. A huge thank you to Miss Stubbs our staff star of the week and Chloe who received our Head Teachers Award. We are really proud of you all.
Mrs Oram has been working hard on the KS1 Playground to come up with creative ways to develop teamwork. Our children have loved the new the activities that are on offer, thank you so much Mrs Oram we are so lucky to have you in our school.

After considering what medicines can include and how they might look, we discussed some real life scenarios and thought about how we would handle the same situation. The children then wrote about what they had learned.
Today, the children really enjoyed their Yoga class, exploring a range of positions to improve their balance and posture.
We are so proud of our Golden shield winners and showcasing some fantastic learning outcomes. We are so proud of you all. A huge well done to Charlie receiving the Head Teachers award for his positive attitude, resilience and how he has grown in confidence.
Congratulations to Keppel on winning this years house treat and over taking Hoober who have won for the last three years. Well done to all 99 children and 12 staff who were successful. We can’t wait to start the challenge again in transition. Good luck everyone and keep collecting your points.
