Today, Y6 took part in a Zoom meeting with the Library service. We had a WW1 story ‘Where the Poppies Grow’ read to us followed by a series of letters from a local man ‘Albert Fretwell’ who wrote letters home to his mother from the trenches in WW1. Children were able to reflect on these letter as ‘The Last Post’ was played when they realised that Albert had died. What a great opportunity to learn about the war using our local services. The content fitted wonderfully with this weeks writing opportunities in class. A huge thank you from Rockingham for providing this service, in trying circumstances.
