Welcome to the army. Recruitment speeches in 6B
Today we have started a new genre of writing, persuasive speeches. In WW1 young men were persuaded to join the army by recruitment officers. In our first session we looked at our model text and thought about how we could command an audience using our voices and gestures. We started with Talk 4 Writing techniques to learn a section of the speech to familiarise ourselves but found that when we played them back we thought we sounded a little bit like robots so we began to slowly rehearse and become more connected with what we wanted to say. We still have lots of teaching left this week so hopefully with our own scripts and rehearsals on performance we should be really happy with what our speeches look like by the end of the week.
Can you see the difference between the first piece and the rehearsed piece of film?
