Today, Y4/5D and Y5P have had lots of fun learning about film and animation at Bradford Media Museum. We looked at lots of examples of early animations and photography. We also looked at gaming devices over time and leant about how animation is used to create games.
Our Year 5 children were superb on the basketball court on Monday evening and worked extremely hard playing against some very experienced teams who also had the height. We finished in 3rd place and are so proud of our up and coming stars. Thank you to Annie’s mum for this beautiful picture.
Animation Club continued this week with after school. Children were using software I Can Animate and were starting to create a stop motion animation. Skills are developing and the creativity and ideas of the children were fantastic as they produced a short animation clip.
Children in 5P were writing letters this afternoon in response to the letters from Spain. Children were interested by the festivals that children were involved in and some of the music they listened to.
Y5P have been working with Mr Harrison and Mrs Smith to record their very own Animation. As part of their home learning they have been creating scenes in order to film their animation. Good luck Y5P I can’t wait to see the finished outcomes.

On Friday our Year 4 and 5 children performed The Tempest at Rotherham Civic theatre. Both Y4/5D and Y5P put on an outstanding performance. They showcased their learning with accurate pronunciation and acting prowess.

Before Christmas, we managed to squeeze in our dissolving investigation linked to our learning on materials and their properties unit. We used a range of vocabulary during the experiment, including the terms soluble, insoluble, dissolving and variables. We did our best to keep it a fair test and manage all the dependent variables.
Y5P have spent part of today creating their calendars that will be sent home. Many children were focused on their learning. As a result, the outcomes are fantastic.
Today our Year 5/6s took part in a very intense spelling bee. The children really enjoyed using their phonics knowledge to spell words correctly. Well done everyone and good luck in the final next week.

Today we are performing Carols at Rotherham Minster organised by Rotherham Music Service. We are so excited to share our beautiful singing with our parents.
Our Year 5s have had the opportunity along with Greasbrough to have the Shakespeare company into school performing a play. The children have been fully engaged throughout and have been transported back in time.
Our children were so excited to read their letters and share them with each other. We have started to respond and are looking forward to our continued communication. I think we should organise a Skype call.

Our Year 5s and Foundation have had a spectacular day exploring the space. Our Foundation 1 children were so excited about finding the hidden objects.
Year 4 and 5 from Y4/5D and Y5P, have had a interesting day learning about the Tudors. They enjoyed getting into role and acting out a royal banquet for King Henry VII. They also learnt lots about what it was like to live in Tudor times.
