The children have been using drama to imagine what it would be like on the Isle of Berk, which is the setting of How To Train Your Dragon.
In Y4/5D we have been working extremely hard to describe the characters from the book ‘How To Train Your Dragon’. We have been working on our use of descriptive language and concentrating on our presentation.

What a wonderful afternoon. Rockingham children really can spell some tricky words. What a battle at Y2. Outstanding spelling! We had to access Y3 words to find a winner. Well done to all finalists but our winners are: Sebi Y1, Siena Y2, Lily Y3, Kayleigh Y4, Georgia Y5 and Oliver Y6
On Friday our Year 4 and 5 children performed The Tempest at Rotherham Civic theatre. Both Y4/5D and Y5P put on an outstanding performance. They showcased their learning with accurate pronunciation and acting prowess.

Yesterday in our PE lesson, we were focusing on developing our ball control skills. The children worked really well to hold the hockey stick with two hands and use the reverse stick method.
Today our families returned to make a collage all about recycling and how we can keep our environment safe. We looked at animals and plastic in the ocean and created some beautiful artwork that we can’t wait to display.
Class 5P battled to victory Class 4/5D in the most recent football match at Rockingham J&I. It was a great game with many children really enjoying themselves.
In guided reading this week, the children are using the character masks to act out their own scenes from the Tempest. The children have focused on script writing and getting into character.
Today in science, the children carried out an experiment related to saturation points. The children predicted how many tea spoons of salt and sugar it will take before the water became saturated.
Our children today have shown excellent resilience completing their bikeability course in the rain. They are really enjoying developing their skills on the playground before moving out of the school grounds. Well done everyone we are all really proud.
Today in literacy, we have been acting out our setting descriptions. We used the language we had generated throughout the week to help us act out a scene.
