This week we have been learning all about things which are alive, dead and never been alive. What better way to learn than visiting our pond area to see the wildlife. We saw lots of insects and even frogs! It was very exciting.
Y1S are having their first singing lesson with Mrs Thompson-Smith this afternoon, they have been playing the air guitar and enjoying hearing the piano, Miss Stubbs was really getting into the groove. Excellent learning everyone.
This week in Maths we are practising our counting skills. We have counted forwards, backwards in ones, fives and tens. We are becoming counting masters!
We were very lucky to have the travelling zoo into school to meet the children who had moved up to their new class as part of their new topic on Fur, Skin and Feathers. The smiles on the children’s faces was lovely to see and also the fear on some of the staffs faces.
Today we took our learning outside and drew lines to measure with a ruler. We discussed the unit of measure that we use to measure length and used centimetres to measure the length of different lines.

Today we had a very special visit from Thomas Farriner and Samuel Pepys. We performed lots of drama about the fire and we discussed what life would have been like in London in 1666. What an amazing day we have had!
In 1S last week we looked at how to keep our minds healthy. We did lots of activities to promote mindfulness such as hand massages, breathing exercises and mindful colouring.

Our KS1 Children had a fabulous morning during their REAL project Tasty Toast celebrating the end of their topic. Well done everyone I hope you all enjoyed it.
For our REAL project this term we invited our grown ups into school to show them our tasty toast topping design. We chose from jam, chocolate, marmalade and butter to give to our grown ups. We enjoyed sharing our learning, it was a very successful morning!
Last week in Maths we were learning all about addition and subtraction. We finished off our week with a Maths egg hunt around the hall. We had to find 30 eggs all with different number sentences and work out the answers. It was so much fun!
In 1S we have been contributing work towards our arts award. Last week a dancer came to visit and we interviewed him to find out all abut him and his dancing. We learned so much!

To start our REAL project this term we looked at existing products and tasted different breakfasts. We had cereal, toast and yogurt and fruit. We had to score the breakfast out of 10 and most of the options got 10 out of 10!
In 1S this week we have recieved a very special letter from Professor Puffendorf! She asked us to make a new potion for her. We followed the instructions and created the top secret potion. It was delicious!

Today we walked down to the church with everyone from our school. It was so much fun! We went to lay our poppies to pay our respects to all of the soldiers from the war.
In Maths this week we have been finding quarters. We used playdough, iced buns, paper, cups of sand and building blocks to show how we can find quarters of different objects.
This afternoon in 1S we celebrated Diwali. We listened to the story of Rama and Sita, made diva lamps using clay and listened to Hindu music. It was lots of fun, we enjoyed learning about different cultures and their celebrations.
Today we had a visit from an author in school, it was very exciting! We listened to how the author created the character Granny Norbag. He signed our books and told us about new exciting stories he is currently writing. We really enjoyed it.
This week in Maths we have been finding half of two digit and one digit numbers.
