Today our Year 1 children were taking part in a Yoga session, all the children were focused and developing a strong core.
Mr Hanson and I had a wonderful learning walk around KS1, the children were extremely excited to show us their learning. There were children building forts in the sand, children dressing up in the Immersive reading area and children in the continuous provision.

What a wonderful afternoon. Rockingham children really can spell some tricky words. What a battle at Y2. Outstanding spelling! We had to access Y3 words to find a winner. Well done to all finalists but our winners are: Sebi Y1, Siena Y2, Lily Y3, Kayleigh Y4, Georgia Y5 and Oliver Y6
We used our sketch books to show how to mix colours. We can’t wait to use the skills we have learnt to produce some wonderful pieces of art work!
We are loving our new reading area and immersive reading text Shrek! We are all so engrossed in the book.

This morning Mrs Foxley-Johnson came to visit to discuss our emotions. We thought about how we feel when different things happen. We had some fantastic ideas and cannot wait to create our own emojis to show our feelings.
This week we have made angels to be displayed in Church. We had lots of fun and can’t wait to see them on display when we visit next week.
Our Y1s this morning exploring our new polar express small world. We love telling stories and using our emotions and language skills.
For children in need we wore our Pjamas and bought Pudsey cookies. We even joined in with Joe Wicks Pudsey workout.

Year 5s are out and about exploring the environment with our Year 1S. We love maths at Rockingham let’s see which year group come out on top. Team work in Numeracy is a wonderful skill especially when children can explain how they calculated the answer.
We participated in the 10 day active challenge today by following the Joe Wickes fitness video. It was lots of fun!
We have loved our music session with Miss Thompson-Smith and even more so this week because we used instruments for the first time! We learnt all about music notes and playing our instruments along to the beat, it was so much fun!

We had a wonderful day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park today. We saw lots of different animals and enjoyed a workshop in the afternoon where we held a giant African land snail, a hissing cockroach and a corn snake.
