In Year 1/2 with Mrs Waller and Mrs Bradbury they have been learning about animals linked to their topic on Yorkshire Wildlife park. Mrs Waller has done an incredible job of filming them in action. Here they are, we hope you enjoy their performance.
Y1/2WB had so much fun this week at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We enjoyed looking at all of the animals and learning lots of new facts. We spent some time in the Discovery Centre classroom learning about the different animal groups, the children remembered lots from our science lessons too! The adults and children were […]
We used our teamwork skills in Literacy to research information about the animals we hoped to see on our visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Some children worked in pairs to collect facts about an animal and some of us worked in a group and used pictures of animals to talk about similarities and differences. […]
We worked in small groups to draw and label pictures and add captions to finish the sentences: Our world would be better without… Our school would be better without…
We read the story ‘Almost Anything’ and we thought about what we could ask the character and what we might say to them. We came up with some really motivating statements that we could all remember for when we feel things are tough.
Congratulations on our Entry from 1/2WF this year for the Oscars, what a wonderful News report! Please click here!
We took Paddington to a visit to Sheffield. We had a fantastic time in the Cathedral before walking into the city to the Winter Gardens and Millennium Galleries.
Mason loved receiving his postcard home for fantastic effort in phonics lessons. Thank you to Mason’s mum for sending me the picture, it’s lovely to see the pride in his face!
We had such fun making photo collages with parts of our faces. We learned that it’s good to be different!
Beautiful home learning Lewis with the support of your family, we are very proud of you and we are looking forward to seeing more London models from KS1!
IMG_9262 Today we took part in a Great Fire of London drama workshop. We worked together to produce 10 second freeze frames from the events that happened. We thought about how to show emotion and created a piece of drama in chronological order and learnt a song. We could recall lots of facts that we had already […]
A huge shout out to our wonderful teaching staff and LSAs for working so hard and producing some excellent environments for our children. I know how excited they are in returning to school to learn about their new topic and continue to have a love of reading. Here are some photographs from our Foundation 2, […]
This term our children in KS1 are learning about our Capital City, the children are really excited about the opportunities to learn about something new. They will also be visiting Sheffield and looking at the similarities and differences between the two. We hope you enjoy supporting your child with their topic, please view the curriculum […]
This week we have been learning about our wellbeing and what this means. We have spent time talking quietly to our friend, while listening to relaxing music, learnt how to give hand massages and even spent a bit of time just sitting, with our own thoughts listening to music. We are making a fantastic job of […]
Our KS1 Children had a fabulous morning during their REAL project Tasty Toast celebrating the end of their topic. Well done everyone I hope you all enjoyed it.
For our REAL project this term we invited our grown ups into school to show them our tasty toast topping design. We chose from jam, chocolate, marmalade and butter to give to our grown ups. We enjoyed sharing our learning, it was a very successful morning!
Last week in Maths we were learning all about addition and subtraction. We finished off our week with a Maths egg hunt around the hall. We had to find 30 eggs all with different number sentences and work out the answers. It was so much fun!
We used our senses to describe fruits. The kiwi fruit was quite a hit!
After our science investigation we then held a P4C session where the children were presented with the question: What makes a good scientist?
This week we investigated which fabric would be waterproof. We made simple predications, carried out our own investigation using some scientific equipment. We then discussed the results as a class. We found out that putting wax crayon on paper makes the paper waterproof!
40 of our KS1 children were involved in a range of sporting events at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. They were involved in a variety of team games and were showing excellent skills such as resilience and communication. The children and staff had an enjoyable day and we hope our KS2 children enjoy the same […]
Thank you to the Y1 parents who came to our Maths Morning on Monday. The parents and the children really enjoyed learning together.
We used our learning from Numeracy last week in our computing lesson this week. We had to programme the beebot to get to the bin to put his rubbish in and call in to see some of the animals in the story on the way!
We became human beebots yesterday! We had to use directional language to ‘programme’ our friends to get from one place to another. It was certainly a little chilly but we enjoyed taking our learning outside.
Group 5 used the story ‘Another Fine Mess’ and the masks to predict how a character would feel. Mrs Thompson helped the children to improve their language choices.
The children loved writing a kind message or word on the back of their friends! When we looked at what had been written the children said they felt ‘happy, proud and pleased to have so many friends!’ Well done 1/2WH, you thought of some lovely things to say!
Look at the fantastic efforts of Home Learning from our children and parents! Our topic this term is ‘What a wonderful world’. The children have made models using recycled materials, globes made out of paper mache and balloons, tasted food from around the world and visited the library to research a country of their choice.
