Today we made our Christingles ready for our service at Church on Wednesday. We learnt all about the different parts of a Christingle. Thank you to our very sensible Y6 helpers, we loved working with you!

This week the Year 1 children in 1/2WB have been applying their fraction learning using playdough and shapes. The children remembered the shape names from our lessons a few weeks ago. Well done Year 1’s!

Y1/2WB have enjoyed working in the new ICT suite, having a go with the Chrome Books. We have been learning about algorithms with Mrs Smith who is from Herringthorpe Junior School. We practiced our new skills by playing a programming game on Purple Mash.
Y1/2WB have been working hard making bird feeders. Mr Clark has been busy putting them outside our classroom, and we are hoping to attract lots of wild birds. During P4C this week we read the text ‘Words and your Heart’ and used it to compose a class question. We discussed how words can make us feel and how we can use our words in a positive way. Here are some of our thoughts from our question.
This week the children have been learning about weight. Some children found out what a 100g of conkers looked and felt like and some children balanced the weight of an object using conkers and then carefully counting how many conkers it took. The children worked in small teams and were really enthusiastic about their learning.

Our first lesson using an atlas was such fun! The children loved looking through the atlas before using it to help them locate and label continents. Some children even added oceans. The children showed great resilience during this lesson. Well done 1/2WB.

We read the story ‘Almost Anything’ and we thought about what we could ask the character and what we might say to them. We came up with some really motivating statements that we could all remember for when we feel things are tough.

We took Paddington to a visit to Sheffield. We had a fantastic time in the Cathedral before walking into the city to the Winter Gardens and Millennium Galleries.
