At the start of this week the children were challenged to compose, edit and publish their own poem about what love means to them. The resilience they have shown is clear to see in these wonderful outcomes!

During science week we have designed and made catapults ready to complete an investigation tomorrow. The children had so much fun.

Last week we visited Bolsover Castle. We had the best time exploring the castle and it’s grounds, making our own films in the ruins and using our sketching skills to produce some art work.
Today our Y1/2 children created their own movement sequence to Greensleeves. The children were so elegant and controlled during the performance. This is only their second lesson but they are showing excellent resilience and commitment.
The children loved visiting each multiplication station and solving problems. They were very resilient in their learning.
Today Maisie received the Head Teachers award for showing excellent resilience in Maths this week. I have really enjoyed working with Year 2 this week and can’t wait for next week. I am so proud of you Maisie you are really growing in confidence.
We discussed how images can be misunderstood. We used counters to support our discussion skills to ensure everyone was able to share their opinion.
Mr Hanson and I had a wonderful learning walk around KS1, the children were extremely excited to show us their learning. There were children building forts in the sand, children dressing up in the Immersive reading area and children in the continuous provision.
What a wonderful afternoon. Rockingham children really can spell some tricky words. What a battle at Y2. Outstanding spelling! We had to access Y3 words to find a winner. Well done to all finalists but our winners are: Sebi Y1, Siena Y2, Lily Y3, Kayleigh Y4, Georgia Y5 and Oliver Y6
Our Key Stage 1 children have produced some beautiful learning all about Castles, they have created a beautiful description using complex language. Well done Everyone.
The children loved using the atlas and maps to locate, name and label countries in the UK. The children then found the capital cities and added the names and drew pictures of the castles that are located there. The children were extremely proud of the piece of learning!
# Classes 1/2WB and 2KS enjoyed a workshop from Mrs FJ about kindness. The children engaged in the story and learned a song. Some children were given a ‘secret kindness mission’ to carry out that day. The children represented KS1 brilliantly, well done.

Today we made our Christingles ready for our service at Church on Wednesday. We learnt all about the different parts of a Christingle. Thank you to our very sensible Y6 helpers, we loved working with you!

Y1/2WB have enjoyed working in the new ICT suite, having a go with the Chrome Books. We have been learning about algorithms with Mrs Smith who is from Herringthorpe Junior School. We practiced our new skills by playing a programming game on Purple Mash.
Y1/2WB have been working hard making bird feeders. Mr Clark has been busy putting them outside our classroom, and we are hoping to attract lots of wild birds.
