Words and your Heart

During P4C this week we read the text ‘Words and your Heart’ and used it to compose a class question. We discussed how words can make us feel and how we can use our words in a positive way. Here are some of our thoughts from our question.

Maths with conkers!

This week the children have been learning about weight. Some children found out what a 100g of conkers looked and felt like and some children balanced the weight of an object using conkers and then carefully counting how many conkers it took. The children worked in small teams and were really enthusiastic about their learning.

Jackson Pollock KS1

Our KS1 children have been looking closely at Jackson Pollock who was an influential American painter, and the leading force behind the abstract expressionist movement in the art world. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. Jackson Pollock’s greatness lies in developing one of the most radical abstract styles in the history of modern art, […]

Atlas skills in 1/2WB

Our first lesson using an atlas was such fun! The children loved looking through the atlas before using it to help them locate and label continents. Some children even added oceans. The children showed great resilience during this lesson. Well done 1/2WB.

Y1/2WB Talk for writing

In Year 1/2 with Mrs Waller and Mrs Bradbury they have been learning about animals linked to their topic on Yorkshire Wildlife park. Mrs Waller has done an incredible job of filming them in action. Here they are, we hope you enjoy their performance.

Preparing for our Visit

We used our teamwork skills in Literacy to research information about the animals we hoped to see on our visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Some children worked in pairs to collect facts about an animal and some of us worked in a group and used pictures of animals to talk about similarities and differences. […]

Drip painting

Painting in the style of Jackson Pollock. The famous artist used drip painting so we tried it this week. We chose different animals to recreate. Can you guess which ones we choose?

Addition fun!

We are super at addition in 1S! Miss Stubbs and Miss Baum have been very impressed with the resilience of the children in Maths recently.

Our bright futures

We have been talking all about our futures and what we would like to be when we grow up. We had lots of amazing ideas from police officers, teachers, doctors, vets to dirt bikers and footballers. It is so important for us to teach our children to aim for the stars with their goals and […]

Science fun!

This week we have been learning all about things which are alive, dead and never been alive. What better way to learn than visiting our pond area to see the wildlife. We saw lots of insects and even frogs! It was very exciting.

Y1S Miss Stubbs Rocking the air guitar!

Y1S are having their first singing lesson with Mrs Thompson-Smith this afternoon, they have been playing the air guitar and enjoying hearing the piano, Miss Stubbs was really getting into the groove. Excellent learning everyone.

Maths in 1S

Travelling Zoo KS1

We were very lucky to have the travelling zoo into school to meet the children who had moved up to their new class as part of their new topic on Fur, Skin and Feathers. The smiles on the children’s faces was lovely to see and also the fear on some of the staffs faces.

Outdoor measuring

Today we took our learning outside and drew lines to measure with a ruler. We discussed the unit of measure that we use to measure length and used centimetres to measure the length of different lines.

Postcard Home

Mason loved receiving his postcard home for fantastic effort in phonics lessons. Thank you to Mason’s mum for sending me the picture, it’s lovely to see the pride in his face!
