We have been finding halves and quarters of shapes and objects in maths this week. We used different objects to show 2 equal parts and 4 equal parts.
This week we have been learning how to make catapults. We have been so resilient and can not wait to test them out! We are going to test which design is the best and record our results in a table.
During science week we have designed and made catapults ready to complete an investigation tomorrow. The children had so much fun.

Last week we visited Bolsover Castle. We had the best time exploring the castle and it’s grounds, making our own films in the ruins and using our sketching skills to produce some art work.
Today Wingfield Academy came into school to deliver science assemblies to our different key stages, the children were so excited to discover the types of investigations you can do. Today our Y1/2 children created their own movement sequence to Greensleeves. The children were so elegant and controlled during the performance. This is only their second lesson but they are showing excellent resilience and commitment.
We had some wonderful words in 1S yesterday. We had fierce, sporty, colourful, magical, royal so many fantastic word choices.

We were so excited to use the chrome books to publish our dragon poems this week! It’s the first time we’ve used them and we were amazing! We learnt how to choose a font and insert images from google.
Our oldest children were training our Year 1 children in the skills needed for Sports Hall Athletics. The children were exceptional and showed some incredible talent in a variety of activities. Our Year 6 children recorded their data and analysed their scores. Well done everyone.

This afternoon we had a very special visitor. We learnt all about our teeth and how to keep them healthy. We learnt that we have 20 teeth in our mouths as children and 32 as adults. We learnt all about plaque, cavities and what happens when a tooth goes bad. We had so much fun. […]

Today our Year 1 children were taking part in a Yoga session, all the children were focused and developing a strong core.
Mr Hanson and I had a wonderful learning walk around KS1, the children were extremely excited to show us their learning. There were children building forts in the sand, children dressing up in the Immersive reading area and children in the continuous provision.

His highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included Expressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism. 2KS have been studying the artist particularly looking at his painting of a Castle which links directly to their topic.

What a wonderful afternoon. Rockingham children really can spell some tricky words. What a battle at Y2. Outstanding spelling! We had to access Y3 words to find a winner. Well done to all finalists but our winners are: Sebi Y1, Siena Y2, Lily Y3, Kayleigh Y4, Georgia Y5 and Oliver Y6
We used our sketch books to show how to mix colours. We can’t wait to use the skills we have learnt to produce some wonderful pieces of art work!
Our Key Stage 1 children have produced some beautiful learning all about Castles, they have created a beautiful description using complex language. Well done Everyone.
The children loved using the atlas and maps to locate, name and label countries in the UK. The children then found the capital cities and added the names and drew pictures of the castles that are located there. The children were extremely proud of the piece of learning!
# Classes 1/2WB and 2KS enjoyed a workshop from Mrs FJ about kindness. The children engaged in the story and learned a song. Some children were given a ‘secret kindness mission’ to carry out that day. The children represented KS1 brilliantly, well done.
We are loving our new reading area and immersive reading text Shrek! We are all so engrossed in the book.
